The screw conveyor is a widely used material handling equipment primarily designed for conveying bulk solid materials.
• Hopper: The starting point for materials entering the equipment. Its size and shape affect the feeding capacity. Typically, it is designed to be relatively spacious to store sufficient raw materials and ensure the continuous and stable conveying of materials.
• Spiral Conveying Channel: A key component with internal spiral blades. Driven by a motor, the blades rotate to push materials upward or forward along the channel. The channel design must consider material properties such as viscosity and particle size to prevent blockages.
• Drive Unit: Generally composed of an electric motor and a reducer. The electric motor converts electrical energy into mechanical energy to drive the reducer. The reducer converts the high-speed rotation of the motor into low-speed, high-torque output for the spiral shaft, providing power for material conveying.
• Support Structure: Ensures the stable operation of the equipment. It can be designed as fixed or mobile to adapt to different production scenarios.
• Discharge Port: When materials are conveyed to the top or front end through the spiral channel, they are discharged from the discharge port into the next process. The discharge port design needs to be optimized based on material properties to prevent accumulation or blockage.
The drive unit drives the spiral shaft to rotate, which in turn makes the spiral blades spin. After materials enter the barrel from the feed inlet, they do not rotate with the spiral. Instead, under the thrust of the spiral blades, combined with the gravity of the materials themselves and the frictional force between the materials and the barrel, they are pushed axially to the discharge port, thereby achieving continuous material conveying.
• Simple Structure: It operates reliably, has strong adaptability and sealing performance, runs stably, and is easy to operate and maintain.
• Low Noise: With a small volume, it occupies little space, can be arranged arbitrarily according to usage conditions, and can also be customized with off-specification sizes and undergo structural modifications.
It is widely used in industries such as chemical engineering, building materials, grain processing, ceramics, food, papermaking, metallurgy, and pharmaceuticals. It can convey various materials including resin powder, alumina, sugar, coating materials, metal powder, and traditional Chinese medicine powder.
